The transition period
The UK left the European Union on 31st January 2020.
The UK is now in the transition period, which is due to last until 31st December 2020. The transition period is designed to give everyone in the UK and the EU time to prepare for changes caused by the UK leaving the EU. We do not expect any changes during the transition period. This means you will not have to make any immediate changes to the way you think about customs or VAT, and your goods can continue to move between the UK and the rest of the EU as they do today.
You will need to start preparing for possible changes after the transition period and we are working to manage the impact leaving the EU may have on our customers at the end of the transition period.
