A safe and healthy space for all

We want to create a safe, inclusive, diverse and productive work environment for all our people. Becoming injury-free is high on our agenda. In 2022, our total accident frequency rate improved by 7.2%.

We’re also committed to investing in our employees, giving our people the tools they need to learn and develop and helping them to enjoy fulfilling and successful careers at Royal Mail Group. In 2020-21, we invested £6 million in training. This year we rebranded our learning offer to ‘The Academy’.

Our increased focus on mental and physical wellbeing has seen us develop a range of programmes to support the health and wellbeing of our diverse workforce. ‘Because Healthy Minds Matter’ signposts support for mental health issues, while ‘Feeling First Class’ seeks to improve proactive health ownership. We can also support colleagues with issues around stress, musculoskeletal health, and the menopause, as well as a flu vaccination offer.
